 Our Current Local Missions

Warm Nights
In January or February, we deliver a grab and go breakfast and sack lunch for Warm Nights residents. We also provide laundry supplies, cash for washing machines/dryers, and toiletries. Sunday school classes as well as volunteers from the congregation assist in making the sandwiches. Three hundred and fifty sandwiches are made for the week for sack lunches along with fruit, cookies, water and a treat. Breakfast is also provided for fifty people each day in addition to extra snacks and juices.

Hudson House

Hudson House is an efficiency apartment attached to CCPC’s fellowship hall that was designed to provide temporary housing for someone in need. CCPC partners with Community Crisis Services, Inc (CCSI) to match us with a resident who would benefit from this transitional housing arrangement. Mission committee with support from Buildings and Grounds makes sure the apartment is well maintained and that all supplies, furnishings, etc are in place for the residents. We serve as a point of contact for the residents throughout their stay to help ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Bowie Interfaith Pantry and Bowie Interfaith Emergency Aid Fund

We support the Bowie Food Pantry through monthly donations and periodically collect canned goods and other wish list items for delivery to the pantry. Every year, the children and youth participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring with donations going to the Bowie Food Pantry.

Christmas Angels

Every year, beginning in October, congregation members can adopt a Christmas Angel as part of the Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tree project. We also have had teams of volunteers each year help sort and distribute the angel tree gifts at the Salvation Army Warehouse in Hyattsville.

Champ House

  • Champ House is an addiction recovery center for men located in Bowie. Each year, through our Alternative Christmas Gift market, we are able to make a monetary donation as well as donations of toiletries and body wash.

Chrysalis House

  • Chrysalis House provides substance use and mental health treatment services for women 18 years of age and older, while allowing their children to live onsite during their mother's program of recovery. CCPC supports Chrysalis House by visiting on a Sunday afternoon with cake and a fun activity for the moms and their children.
