Music at CCPC

Psalm 100 proclaims that we are to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord!”

The gift of music has been a vital part of worship since the early church; at Christian Community Presbyterian Church, we firmly believe this gift can be expressed in a myriad of ways. Under the direction of Music Director, Rick Osborne and Contemporary Worship Leader, Sam Guillermo, CCPC offers worship music that ranges from the most beloved traditional hymns to current contemporary Christian music.

The Contemporary Worship Service Team uses acoustic and electric guitar, percussion and synthesizer to accompany praise songs. The Praise Team, comprised of adults and young people, provides musical direction for the 9:00 a.m. service each Sunday. The team rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7 pm. Once a month the team holds an open rehearsal for anyone interested in participating. Any teen or adult who loves singing contemporary sacred music is encouraged to come join us.

The Celebration Choir offers young people and adults the opportunity to sing God’s praise through choral music of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Arrangements of a number of popular contemporary selections also are performed. An enthusiastic desire to sing to the Lord is all that is required of choir members.

CCPC’s adult bell choir, Clinquant, offers a wide variety of special music throughout the year, especially at Christmas and Easter. Clinquant often performs with the vocal choir to further enhance worship at CCPC, and is always accepting new ringers.

The CCPC Children’s Choir began in September 2018. Our youngest singers present a number of special musical offerings during both worship services and occasionally join forces with the Celebration Choir at Christmas and during Holy Week. The choir practices on Sunday mornings, 10:00-10:15 a.m., September through May.

The CCPC Children’s Bell Choir began in September 2018. Our youngest ringers perform several times a year at both services and other special events. The choir practices on Sunday mornings, 9:30-10:00 a.m., September through May.

The recorder ensemble began in March, 2019. This newest musical group rehearses for fifteen minutes immediately following the 11:00 a.m. worship service. This ensemble is eager to accept new members.

Talented members and friends of CCPC who are instrumentalists also are featured during worship services in special preludes, offertories and anthems throughout the year.

Rehearsals

Celebration choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7 pm, and Clinquant practices Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm, September through May. The Summer Choir meets 45 minutes before Sunday morning worship, and is a great place to try your voice in a more informal setting. The Contemporary Worship Service Praise Team rehearses Thursdays at 7PM.

There's a place for you to share your musical gifts at CCPC and gain fellowship, inspiration, and a renewed sense of connection with your Christian faith. For more information, contact Music Director Rick Osborne or Contemporary Worship leader, Sam Guillermo.
