Worship at CCPC

“Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives. As they respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world.” (PCUSA Directory of Worship W-1.1001)

Greetings to all of you from your friends at Christian Community Presbyterian Church.  We are a welcoming congregation with worship at the center of our spiritual life. Sunday worship at CCPC is a time when we gather together to focus on the reading and proclamation of scripture, the sharing of prayer and hymns or praise songs. Thought-provoking sermons provide guidance for meeting life’s challenges and expand our understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of every month.  Please sign our Hospitality Register at the end of each pew, introduce yourself to our pastor, and join us for coffee and refreshments between the first and second services.

Sunday Worship

“My house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.” Isaiah 56:7

From September through May we offer Sunday services at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. While both of the two Sunday services shares a common understanding of worship, it is expressed through different music. The early service is a more contemporary one featuring the Worship Team and Cornerstone Choir.  The traditional service at 11:00 a.m. features the Chancel Choir. The hand bell choir (Clinquant) and Children’s Choir offer their talents throughout the year.  In the summer months, we have one service at 10:00 a.m.

Children are an important part of our worshipping community. They begin each service with their families.  Sunday school for children from Cradle Roll through Senior High occurs during the first service after the Children's Message. There is an enclosed room (cry room) at the back of the sanctuary where families can attend to needs of children while still being able to see and hear the service.

We are called by God to be an inclusive community and we welcome all people.  CCPC’s buildings are accessible to wheelchairs; assistive listening devices are available (on the cart immediately inside the sanctuary doors); and a large format screen displays text to be read, spoken, or sung by the congregation.

Communion

Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of every month and throughout the year to mark the special seasons and days of the Christian calendar.  Communion is served communally at both the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. services. Gluten free wafers are provided in each Communion plate.

In the Presbyterian Church the Sacrament of Communion is open to all who claim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. You do not need to be a member of CCPC nor a Presbyterian to participate.  Parents are encouraged to include their baptized children.

Music

Psalm 100 proclaims that we are to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord!”  The gift of music has been a vital part of worship since the early church; and, at Christian Community Presbyterian Church, we firmly believe this gift can be expressed in a myriad of ways.  CCPC offers worship music that ranges from the most beloved traditional hymns to current contemporary Christian musical stylings.  The Worship Team and the Cornerstone Choir offer young people and adults the opportunity to sing God’s praise through music of today.  Utilizing acoustic and electric guitar, full percussion, synthesizer and piano, these ensembles explore more recent praise songs and anthems.  An enthusiastic desire to sing to the Lord is all that is required of choir members.

The Chancel Choir repertoire spans the great church literature of the past 400 years.  Works by composers such as Vivaldi, Bach and Handel are shared with the congregation in tandem with music of Moses Hogan, John Rutter and Mark Hayes.   Young people and adults of all levels of experience are welcome.

CCPC’s hand bell choir, Clinquant offers a wide variety of special music throughout the year, especially at Christmas and Easter.  Clinquant often performs with the vocal choirs to further enhance the worship at CCPC, and is always accepting new ringers.

Other musical opportunities include the Children’s Choir, which performs throughout the church year, and is composed of children of reading age through fifth grade who enjoy singing.  Talented members and friends of CCPC who are instrumentalists are also featured during worship services in special preludes and offertories.

We welcome you to share your musical gifts with us at CCPC and gain fellowship, inspiration, and a renewed sense of connection with your Christian faith.
