Martin Luther King Celebration
The community was invited to attend the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Committee’s (MLKCC) annual event to promote the legacy of its hero, Dr. King, through education, music, and the arts. The event was held at CCPC on April 25, 2010,including with a fellowship dinner. The April scheduling of this annual event serves as a testament to the MLKCC’s belief that Dr. King's work should be celebrated throughout the year. April was a pivotal month during Dr. King's freedom journey: from the launching of the Birmingham Campaign on April 13, 1963 to penning the "Letter from Birmingham Jail" days later. The fateful day of his assassination April 4, 1968.
The 2010 guest speaker was Hodari Abdul-Ali, a Muslim of African-American descent who has combined a career of business, journalism and community activism. The MLKCC will presented awards to 10 community organizers who have unselfishly served the people of Prince George's County for years.

We continue this fellowship at 6:30 PM every Friday during Lent with activities for the children from 7:00-7:30.
An Evening at CCPC
This is the variety/talent show that always is very entertaining and unpredictable. Several of the acts are top secret—you won’t know until you get there. Last year we had a standing room only crowd in Dodds Hall. The 2010 show was March 13.

Volunteer Opportunities
Dear CCPC Member or Friend,
To those of you who have been faithful greeters in the past, willing to take the time to be a warm, friendly face on Sunday mornings who shake a hand and welcome our worshippers, I hope you will continue this service.
If you have never been a greeter, I hope you will become one. It is a wonderful way to meet everyone and make them feel welcome at CCPC.
As the Elder assigned to Worship Council, I encourage you to sign up to greet, either at the 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. services throughout the 2010-2011 regular worship season beginning September 12. The sign-up board is mounted on the right side of the doors as you enter the narthex.
The greeter is the welcoming face of “a friend in Christ” to visitors as well as to members and friends in our worship community. Greeters help to share the warmth of God’s love.
