Transitional Pastor/Head of Staff

Christian Community Presbyterian Church - 3120 Belair Drive, Bowie, MD, 20715

Christian Community Presbyterian Church (CCPC) is in Bowie, MD, a suburb 15 miles east of Washington, DC. Bowie (population approximately 56,000) is 15 miles from Annapolis, MD, and 25 miles from Baltimore, MD.

CCPC is a welcoming congregation of 345 members, with an average worship attendance of 175, with diversity in age and race. We seek an individual to assist us as transitional pastor as we discern our leadership needs and search for our next pastor.

During most of the year we have two services – a contemporary service with contemporary music, and a blended service with hymns and praise music.  In summer we offer one combined service with music from both services. We have a Christian Education program planned and coordinated by our Director of Spiritual Development.  He also runs the youth group and children’s activities and is currently our Head of Staff.

During the COVID-19 crisis we are offering online worship, children’s church, Bible study, youth group, congregational check-ins, prayer groups, daily lectionary readings, Sunday school and more for our private and public Facebook page.  Successful candidate should be comfortable with recording remote worship.

We are a congregation dedicated to community outreach and have had a number of members and youth involved in both international and domestic mission projects.

CCPC seeks a Transitional Pastor who will among other ministrations…

  • Provide regular preaching and worship leadership on Sunday mornings and at special worship services.
  • Assist the Congregation in transitional tasks.
  • Handle the regular duties of a hands-on pastor including planning and leading weekly services.
  • Serve as head of staff providing leadership and supervision for staff and meet with boards and committees to facilitate the work of the congregation.
  • Support congregational growth by meeting with prospective new members.
  • Assist our congregation as we look to the future, and to guide the search process for our next called Pastor. Experience in helping other churches make healthy transitions is preferred.
