Community Cafe

Pat Benson is CCPC's "Grocery Shopping Guru" and driver/server at the Community Place Cafe. On Friday, Jan. 14th, CCPC made our "14th year visit" to Hyattsville Methodist Church where the needy are fed by volunteers recruited by Prince George's Community Ministries. Volunteers Cal and Lois Pals, Effie Grubb, Sharon McNamara, Sue Evans, Pat Benson, and Dee McCarty prepared fifty bag lunches for the evening or weekend for our guests. There were forty-six men and four women in attendance.
Bertha Rawl, Pat Benson, Don and Dee McCarty, and Dave Honeyford traveled to Hyattsville where they were joined by Mt. Rainier Elementary School's Gentlemen's Club. These are very special young men with excellent grades and great manners. They serve as table hoppers for our hungry guests. They are brought to the church by their principal Mr. Phil Catania and these six students did a wonderful job of serving the fifty guests. Jane Sumner also makes a personal care kit for each guest. You may get a chance to meet some of our friends when they come to CCPC for the Warm Nights program. Blessings on all of you for your caring and sharing with the Community Ministry lunch program. - - - - Dee McCarty
