New Music Director

I am so thrilled and honored to be joining CCPC as music director. This congregation has been blessed with many musically talented members, and I look forward to working with all of you! My heartfelt thanks go to Jon Youngdahl, Scott Alexander, Kevin Clemence and the choirs of CCPC for helping me during this “transitional” time.

My background is originally Presbyterian, having been a member of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania, and also Adelphi Presbyterian Church in Maryland. I joined Good Samaritan Lutheran Church in Lanham in 1991 as a member and organist/music director, where I stayed for fifteen fruitful years.

The musical hat I wear most comfortably is that of a pianist, having begun my studies at age 4. I graduated from University of Maryland at College Park with my Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees in Piano Performance and Accompanying. I especially enjoy working with singers in classical, jazz, sacred and musical theatre styles, and often accompany my colleagues in concerts throughout the area.

I met my husband, John, at UMCP and we were married in 1990. We moved to Bowie in 1991, and now share our house with our two daughters, Sara and Amanda (ages 11 and 5). I should mention that Emmy, Figaro and Carmen also live with us: a golden retriever and two feisty kittens! We have yet to train them to take phone messages… My favorite things include movies, classic literature, Jungian Psychology, the color purple, and anything chocolate!

I am looking forward to discovering together what great things God has in store for the music ministry of CCPC!
