The Pastor's Corner
Worship notes for Sunday, May 6th:
5th Sunday of Easter
The 10th Commandment is about coveting. From the beginning of time we have wanted to have more then what other people have. In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve had everything they needed but they wanted the one thing God placed off limits. We live in a country where the striving to have more of everything is considered normal behavior. In Sunday's sermon we will look at the problem of "Wanting without limits."

Thanks
We gave thanks for the Ministry of World Vision in alleviating hunger around the World. Our Youth participated in the 30 Hour Famine and dramatically illustrated the plight of the 29,000 children who die each day of starvation related illnesses. The long continuous paper of little hand prints painfully reminded us of the perilous state of many people in our world.
The Mission committee reports that gifts to this years "One Great Hour of Sharing" offering have topped $3500. Thanks you for supporting this annual offering that provides world wide emergency relief aid during the year.
A special thank you to Barry "Skywalker" Miller and Bob Brutout for replacing the burned out lights in the sanctuary. And, to Dick Arnold for "bringing light" to the ladies room adjacent the Parlor. (smile)

30 Hour Famine
Dear CCPC,
Thanks for sponsoring, praying, and volunteering to help us in World Vision's 30 Hour Famine! We went 30 hours without eating, and it helped us understand a little bit better how it feels to be hungry and not be able to eat. It was still very different for us than for some of the people in underdeveloped countries, because we knew that we'd be able to eat anything that we wanted after our break-fast Sunday evening, and we think it makes it easier to put up with something if you know when it will end. Many people are hungry and they really don't know when they will get their next meal or even IF they'll get their next meal. Our youth pastor told us that a child dies from starvation somewhere in the world every 3 seconds. That's almost every time you take a breath!
While we were fasting our youth group did some community service work and we played games that illustrated what it might be like to live in a poor village. Someone had to wear a backpack that was filled with heavy rocks to simulate what it would feel like to be so worn down and tired all the time. Someone else in our youth group had blindness as their disability . They kept getting lost and bumping into everyone It was kind of funny. Even though we had fun we still got the point though. It's hard to REALLY know what it would be like, but we think we all have a better understanding.
Thanks again for encouraging us and for helping feed hungry children. To find out more about the 30 Hour Famine and World Vision go to World Vision 30 Hour Famine
You've definitely made a difference!
Sincerely,
The CCPC Youth Group

Trash & Treasure Thanks
Thank you to everyone who made the the Trash & Treasure sale a success for the Women's Mission Projects.
Those of you who donated terrific items, those of you who sorted and organized the goods, the great army that priced everything, the people who came early to get things set-up and ready for the buyers, the cashiers, the food preparers, the advertisers, the great clean-up crew including the Paper Tigers and Deacons, those who purchased new treasures for themselves and family. We raised a little over $760, which far exceeded our $600 goal.
You are all the best, Peggy Oates & Cyd Radden- LeSage

Adult Education Program
The Adult Education Program on Sunday, May 6, will be led by four members of the Paper Tigers: Thad Uehling, Jack Jones, Dave Honeyford and Jim Woods.
Paper Tigers is a group of about 20 mostly retired gentlemen who meet at the church on Wednesday mornings to discuss one or more chapters of a book the group has selected for reading. Book selections are intended to make the group more informed on Christianity and other religions, and to expand knowledge in a variety of other areas.
The presentation on May 6 will focus on a book by Jared Diamond "Guns, Germs, and Steel." This book was featured on Public Television.
Please join us on May 6. You'll find the presentation entertaining, informative, and it will give you a fresh prospective on human advancement.

| Projectionists Needed
We are trying to set up a regular schedule of projectionists for Power Point at the 8:30AM and 11:00AM worship services.
The slides are already prepared and the scripts are ready. All you need to do is run the scripts. The only extra time needed is about 15 minutes before the service you show the slides, to cover any particular orders or timings for the script. If you are only available for 1 service a month, that would be helpful.
With extra projectionists, you can match your schedule and no one will have a long schedule.
Check with Dennis Evans at D.C.Evans@EvansOpticalEngineering.com
